Junior Chemist is responsible for laboratory operation, testing and calibration related matters.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory:

  • To manage the laboratory operation in accordance to GLP, GMP and Quality System requirements.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment is validated, calibrated and maintained as per GLP requirement.
  • Ensure all laboratory tests are performed in timely manner and ensure the results are properly reviewed prior to raw material/product release.
  • To prepare reagent/standard solutions required for testing according to SOP.
  • To perform raw material/product sampling and carry out laboratory tests according to validated test method and/or SOP.
  • Assist in investigation in the event of test result out of specification.
  • Ensure inventories of supplies and stocks on hand for laboratory use.
  • Responsible on laboratory housekeeping and safety.
  • Maintain raw data and technical records generated from testing.
  • Authorize to sign certificate of analysis when required (certified/accredited chemist only).

Calibration:

  • Manage internal and external parties on calibration activities (off-site/on-site/in-house verification).
  • Maintain master equipment.
  • Monitor the calibration due date of all equipment/machine that required calibration.
  • Coordinate with external calibrators to perform off-site or on-site calibration.
  • Perform in-house verification when required.
  • Manage and maintain the certificates/records of calibration/verification.
  • To release the calibrated equipment/machine for production use.
  • Authorized to withdraw the equipment/machine from production use in the event of calibration out of tolerance.

Test Method Validation/Test Method Transfer:

  • Assist in test method validation/test method transfer related to analytical testing when required.
  • Carry out test method validation.

Other Quality Matters:

  • Complying strictly to the company’s rules and regulations that are stipulated in the Employment letter and the HR Manual.
  • To comply with all approved standard operating procedures, work instruction and guidelines that had been trained on.
  • Attend to any other job as assigned by superior and complete the assignment given within the agreed time frame.
  • To assist and report all quality related matters to superior.

Key Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess Degree in Chemistry or science related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ working experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Candidates with exposure in medical device industry will have added advantage.
  • Preferably candidate with good knowledge of ISO13485, GMP & PIC/s.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
  • Able to handle laboratory equipment preferably HPLC, GC-MS, FTIR, etc.
  • Willing to learn, independent, initiative and proactive.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team and with minimum supervision.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).
